The following article demonstrates a basic configuration of a Comrex Bric Link II for use with TundraCast Audio Streaming platform. This article assumes you have connectivity to the Bric Link II and have logged in using the browser-based interface.
NOTE: Bric Link II units purchased from Summit Technology Group as part of a TundraCast account ship to you preconfigured for your particular account. There is no need to follow this article for these units.
Step 1: Create a Streaming Profile
Create a new streaming profile by selecting 'Add New Profile' under the 'Profile Manager' tab.
Select the new profile and set the Name to a memorable name.
As pictured below, the Channel setting shall be set to 'HTTP', enable 'Transmit' and 'Icecast2 Source Streaming'
Finally, change the Username and Mount Point to the values provided by Summit Technology Group support.
Step 2: Create a Connection
Create a new connection by selecting the '+' icon under the 'Connections' tab.
The below pictured settings shall serve as a guide to creating the new connection:
The 'Remote Name' can be any name used to remember it is the connection to TundraCast.
The 'IP Address' will be assigned at time of onboarding but will always consist of an IP Address and a Port number in the format '<ip_address>:<port>'
'Use Crosslock' should be set to 'No'
'Switchboard ID' shall only be used if you wish to monitor device status with the Comrex Switchboard interface. The license for this is not usually included with Bric Links. For more information about using Switchboard ID and if Switchboard is a good fit for your particular application, contact Summit Technology Group support.
Set the 'Connection Password' to the password assigned at the time of onboarding.
The 'Profile' setting should point to the streaming profile we built in step 1. See step 1 for more information.
We recommend setting 'Fall Forward' to 'Yes' to allow the unit to reconnect should the connection fail.
Step 3: Start the Connection
Finally, you can start the connection by selecting it under the 'Connections' tab and select the 'Connect' button from the right side action pane.
Step 4: [Optional] Setting the Connection to Auto-Connect
In most circumstances, you may want the Bric Link II to automatically connect to the TundraCast server upon startup. To do this, simply find 'Connections' under the 'System Settings' tab and set the 'Always Connect To' value to the name of the connection we created in step 2. Click 'Apply' to save this setting.
With this optional setting in place, we can now test the unit by removing power and reapplying power. Note that a valid internet connection is necessary to auto connect.
