Overview
Summit Technology Group seeks motivated, safety-conscious individuals to join our new broadcast tower crew. Entry-Level Tower Technicians will assist with installation and maintenance of broadcast antennas, coaxial lines, and tower components under supervision. Between tower projects, Technician will be asked to assist on studio and transmitter site builds, repairs, maintenance, and decommissioning. Additional responsibilities include requisitioning tower hardware from our purchasing team and keeping safety gear, tower components, and other equipment in stock and in good working order.
Responsibilities
- Climb and work on towers up to 1,500 feet under the supervision of a crew lead.
- Assist with installation of antennas, coax, rigid line, mounts, and grounding systems.
- Carry tools, materials, and assist with rigging and hoisting operations.
- Perform tower lighting checks, site clean-up, and basic maintenance tasks.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and follow all climbing and PPE procedures.
- Maintain company tools, fall-protection gear, and ensure proper storage.
- Learn and follow RF safety practices and tower rescue protocols.
- Travel with crew to job sites across the Midwest and occasionally nationwide.
Qualifications
- No prior broadcast experience required, but mechanical aptitude and comfort working at heights are essential.
- Must pass a climb test and pre-employment physical.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork.
- Willingness to learn rigging, RF systems, and tower rescue.
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction card.
- ComTrain or NATE Tower Climber certification (can be obtained after hire).
- Prior construction, electrical, or broadcast experience a plus.
